A teenager is fighting for life in a southeast Dallas hospital after yesterday's shooting, according to police. Family members drove the victim to a nearby hospital, where the teen remains in critical condition. Dallas police said a suspect took off before officers later located and arrested them.
According to WFAA, the shooting happened on the 6300 block of Godfrey Avenue in southeast Dallas and involved a juvenile who was shot by a known suspect. The outlet reports the teen was taken to a local hospital by family members and remains in critical condition. It was not immediately clear whether charges had been filed against the arrested suspect.
How This Fits Into Dallas Spring Violence
The shooting adds to a string of violent incidents across Dallas this spring. CBS News Texas reported a pair of overnight shootings in Deep Ellum earlier this month that wounded several people and killed a security officer, and FOX 4 covered a March southeast Dallas apartment shooting that left a juvenile hospitalized and an adult dead. Police are continuing separate investigations into those incidents.
Investigation Ongoing
Dallas police told WFAA that detectives are actively investigating and following leads to determine what led to the shooting. Authorities have not released additional details about the suspect or potential charges as the probe continues.
