A luxury grab at Downtown Crossing has Boston police asking the public for backup. Investigators this week released images of two people they say swiped four Versace gift sets from the Macy's at 450 Washington Street on April 21, then headed toward the Orange Line entrance at Downtown Crossing. Detectives say the pair walked out of the store and are now hoping sharp-eyed riders and shoppers can help put names to the faces in the photos and video stills the department posted.
Police Details and Description
According to the Boston Police Department, District A-1 detectives say two male suspects went into the downtown Macy's and removed four Versace gift sets. One suspect is described as a light-skinned male in his 30s wearing a black hoodie with a skull graphic on the hood, a black jacket with "LUXE LEGACY" printed on the back, skeleton-patterned pants and black-and-red Jordan sneakers. Detectives say they are actively reviewing the facts and are asking anyone with information to contact District A-1 at (617) 343-4571.
How to Submit Tips
The department says photos and videos tied to the case can be shared anonymously and that it will protect the identity of anyone who comes forward. Community members can call the CrimeStoppers tip line at 1-800-494-TIPS, text the word "TIP" to CRIME (27463), or submit information online through the Boston Police CrimeStoppers page, per the Boston Police Department (Official) Facebook post. Investigators are asking anyone who was in the Downtown Crossing area on April 21 and might have captured something on their devices to give their photos and videos another look.
Downtown Context
The department routinely puts out similar community alerts when downtown larcenies hit their radar. Coverage of a District A-1 appeal in June 2025 highlighted how often detectives lean on public leads to move these cases forward. The Boston Police Department’s Boston Police Department Most Wanted and community alert pages feature similar requests for help, along with the same CrimeStoppers contact options now being used in the Downtown Crossing Versace theft investigation.
