Next week, Mitch Park will trade soccer games and dog walkers for something a lot more solemn. The Wall That Heals, a traveling three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is set to arrive in Edmond for a four-day stay from Thursday through Sunday. Admission is free, and organizers say the exhibit will come with a mobile education center, ceremonies and guided visits that honor Vietnam-era service members and their families.

According to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Edmond is on the group’s 2026 tour schedule, with the Wall slated to be in town May 14–17. The organization notes that the traveling exhibit is accompanied by a 53-foot mobile Education Center that features local "Hometown Heroes" displays and classroom-friendly educational materials.

The visit was announced by the City of Edmond on its official X account on May 7, naming Mitch Park as the host site and underscoring that admission will be free. The city’s notice also directs residents to local organizers for volunteer opportunities and group tour arrangements.

According to VFW Post 4938, the post is coordinating volunteers, managing logistics and has released a schedule of events tied to the Wall’s stay. Listed on the VFW schedule are a Native American Vietnam Service Recognition ceremony and a Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home on opening day, a HMONG SGU recognition on Friday evening and an Oklahoma County MIA tribute called "Light Up the Night" on Saturday night.

What Visitors Will See

The Wall That Heals stretches 375 feet, a three-quarter-scale replica that rises to about 7.5 feet at its highest point and carries more than 58,000 engraved names. According to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, the replica is built from Avonite across 140 numbered panels and uses LED lighting so the names can be read around the clock. The mobile Education Center adds local photos, In Memory tributes and timeline materials to help visitors connect stories and faces to the names on the Wall.

How To Visit And Help

Organizers are urging visitors to plan ahead. VFW Post 4938 asks volunteers to sign up in advance and encourages schools to reserve guided tours to get the most from the Education Center. The VFW event page includes links for volunteer shifts and tour requests, while the City of Edmond lists Mitch Park’s amenities and access points for people heading to the site. Check host pages for the latest logistical details, including parking, hours and any guidance for larger groups, before you go.

The Wall That Heals visit offers Edmond a focused moment to reflect and remember; local organizers say they hope the display creates space for veterans and families to feel seen and supported. Visitors are asked to treat the memorial as a place of quiet respect and to follow any instructions from on-site staff and volunteers.
