A quiet west Phoenix neighborhood turned chaotic late Thursday, May 14, when a fast-moving fire tore through multiple homes near 35th Avenue and Thomas Road, sending a thick column of smoke into the night sky as engines and ladders rushed in from all directions.
Firefighters arrived within minutes, facing heavy flames and a row of threatened houses. Crews battled the blaze well into the night, working to knock down the fire and keep it from jumping to more homes. Neighbors reported seeing bright flames and a major emergency response lining the block.
According to 12News, the call came in around 9:15 p.m. Early reports indicated the fire started in one house before spreading to at least two neighboring homes. The station noted that crews stayed on scene as they worked to fully contain the flames.
