A quick $5 spin turned into a life-changing payday for one Atlanta visitor at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, where a Megabucks machine hit for a staggering $10,292,912.32. The massive jackpot triggered an eruption of cheers on the casino floor as the progressive locked in and the guest celebrated with nearby players and casino staff.
According to a Westgate news release reported by 8 News Now, the win came on an IGT Megabucks Wolf Run Eclipse slot after the gambler had been playing for about three minutes. The resort said the guest, visiting from Atlanta, qualified for the top prize with a $5 wager and later collected the full jackpot.
Westgate spokesperson Cami Christensen said in the release, “Las Vegas is built on unforgettable moments, and it doesn’t get much more memorable than turning a $5 bet into more than $10 million.” She added that the property was “thrilled for our guest from Atlanta.”
How the Megabucks jackpot works
The winning spin landed on an IGT Megabucks Wolf Run Eclipse machine, part of IGT’s multi-level progressive system that links machines so each wager helps build a shared top prize. Indian Gaming describes Wolf Run Eclipse as a wheel-bonus title with several progressive levels, which is how relatively small bets can occasionally unlock giant, headline-worthy jackpots.
Another big hit on the Strip this year
This is not the only eight-figure Megabucks moment Las Vegas has seen in 2024. IGT’s newsroom reported a $10,486,432.04 Megabucks payoff at Mandalay Bay on April 1, showing how wide-area progressives can erupt at different casinos around the Strip. IGT noted that the Mandalay Bay winner also qualified with a $5 wager.
Westgate's big moments
Westgate is no stranger to eye-popping slot wins. A visitor hit a Megabucks machine there for about $10.7 million in 2015, according to FOX13. Westgate’s latest release did not identify this week’s winner but said the guest celebrated on the floor with fellow patrons and casino team members.
