
Two separate bursts of evening violence in Southeast D.C. on Saturday, June 6, sent a woman and a man to the hospital and kept officers in the Sixth and Seventh districts racing between scenes less than an hour apart. Police say suspects were arrested near both locations, and both victims were reported to be alive.
What Police Say Happened
According to DC News Now, the Metropolitan Police Department said officers first responded just before 4:15 p.m. to a report of a stabbing in the 1700 block of 16th Street SE, where they found a woman suffering a stab wound. Medics took her to a hospital for treatment.
Less than an hour later, officers were called to the 400 block of Mellon Street SE and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds, according to DC News Now. He was transported to a hospital and listed as conscious and breathing.
In both cases, police said officers located a suspect in the area and made an arrest. MPD did not say whether the suspects and victims knew each other.
