Fixe Southern House, the Austin-born restaurant that set up shop at The Shops at Clearfork, quietly called it quits on its Fort Worth location yesterday. Diners arrived to find a note taped to the front door, and guests with upcoming reservations were notified that their bookings had been canceled.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the sign on the door read, “The Fixe family has made the difficult decision to close our doors. Thank you for eight years of support and for sharing your celebrations with us. We wish you all the best!” The paper also reports that the restaurant’s Google profile now lists the business as “permanently closed,” and that ownership did not offer a detailed explanation for the shutdown beyond an emailed note. In that message, owner Keith House said the team was “sad to have our time in Fort Worth come to an end” and urged guests to visit Fixe in Austin.
The brand’s website now shows only the Austin flagship and no longer lists a Fort Worth location, reflecting the change in Fixe’s online footprint. As noted on Fixe Southern House, the Austin restaurant remains open for reservations and private dining.
Where It Sat And When It Opened
Fixe Fort Worth opened in early 2018 at 5282 Marathon Ave inside The Shops at Clearfork, pitched as a polished, spacious outpost of the original Austin concept. The debut drew plenty of attention at the time; Eater Dallas highlighted the restaurant’s size along with its now-signature biscuits.
A Neighborhood Staple
Local regulars often pointed to Fixe for Southern comfort staples, from its “triple fat” biscuits to shrimp and grits, griddle burgers, and weekend brunch, which helped make it a go-to spot for birthdays and weekend gatherings. The abrupt closure leaves a noticeable gap in Clearfork’s restaurant lineup, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Management has not shared any further public details beyond the emailed statement, and there is no public timeline yet for who might take over the space. For now, The Shops at Clearfork will have one fewer high-end Southern option as Fort Worth diners look elsewhere to fill their biscuit-and-brunch cravings.
