A 31-year-old man was slashed in the face early Saturday on East 207th Street in the Norwood section of the Bronx, leaving a visible trail of blood along the block and drawing a heavy police response, authorities and local outlets said. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition, and three men dressed in black fled before officers arrived.
An NYPD spokesperson told Norwood News the assault happened around 1:18 a.m. at 291 East 207th Street between Perry Avenue and Bainbridge Avenue. The victim suffered a slash to the left side of his face, and EMS transported him to St. Barnabas Hospital, the spokesperson said. Police described the suspects as three unidentified males, all dressed in black, who took off in an unknown direction as investigators began canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage.
News 12 New York independently reported that the 31-year-old was taken to a local hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. The outlet added that no arrests have been made and that detectives remained on the scene following the attack.

Norwood News' photographer documented police tape and a trail of blood stretching for roughly half a block. Neighbors told the outlet they had not seen the moment of the attack. The cordoned-off stretch sits roughly opposite the former St. Brendan's School, where officers maintained a perimeter as they collected evidence.
Nearby Deadly Shooting Raised Concerns
Earlier this week, the same stretch of East 207th Street was the scene of a fatal shooting that left 23-year-old Jayden Purvis dead, an incident that has amplified concern among residents, according to a report on the midnight Norwood ambush. In that case, authorities released photos of persons of interest and said they were seeking two people who fled in a black BMW.
