A man was found shot to death in the middle of the afternoon Friday on San Antonio’s West Side, according to police. Emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene after officers responded to reports of gunfire.
Officers were called around 2:45 p.m. to the 900 block of South San Augustine Avenue near Castroville Road, where they found a male with apparent gunshot wounds lying in the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and no arrests have been made as the investigation continues, as reported by KSAT.
West Side Has Seen Recent Shootings
The same part of town has been on police radar in recent weeks. On June 8, a shooting outside a taco truck left a man critically wounded. Local reporting traced investigators to a residence off South San Augustine Avenue in that case, highlighting recurring late-night trouble on the West Side, per late-night taco run.
Police Ask For Tips
San Antonio police are asking anyone who saw or recorded anything in connection with Friday’s shooting to contact investigators. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP or using the P3 Tips app, according to Crime Stoppers of San Antonio.
