Downtown San Clemente is getting a new spot for long, lingering breakfasts. San Diego-born Broken Yolk Café is set to move into 201 Avenida Del Mar, with the chain planning a late 2026 opening less than a mile from the pier and right in the middle of the city’s core shopping and dining strip.
In a press release via PR Newswire, Broken Yolk announced that the San Clemente café will be developed under a multi-unit agreement with franchisee Nick Harris. Harris already runs eight Broken Yolk locations and opened a Lake Havasu City restaurant this past April. "Our team absolutely loves this brand," he said in the announcement.
The chain traces its roots to Pacific Beach in 1979 and now lists roughly 42 locations systemwide, according to the Broken Yolk Café website. The San Clemente restaurant is billed as part of the company’s continued Southern California buildout as it stretches beyond its San Diego home base.
Downtown location and space
A commercial listing for 201 Avenida Del Mar describes a restaurant-ready space that already comes with patio frontage on the boulevard, which positions it as a prime downtown spot for morning and weekend traffic. The LoopNet listing cites roughly 4,859 square feet of retail space and highlights a built-out kitchen and street-facing patio, all elements that align neatly with a full-service breakfast and brunch operation.
Brand growth and local fit
Broken Yolk framed the San Clemente news as one more move in its broader regional expansion, with additional locations rolling out across Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, Texas and, according to the release, Indiana later this year. John Gelastopoulos, the chain’s president, called the ongoing growth encouraging and said San Clemente is "in store for something truly special," per the PR Newswire statement.
