
Atlanta police are asking neighbors for help tracking down a man they say was involved in an attempted robbery that turned into a shootout inside the Maverick luxury apartments in Peoplestown.
According to investigators, two suspects confronted a resident inside the building on May 17 and held him at gunpoint. Officers say the pair tried to rob the man and go after his camera, but the resident refused to play victim. He fought back, then chased the suspects through the property as they ran.
Atlanta News First reports that as the suspects fled, they fired at the resident. Police say he was not hit and was not injured. The Atlanta Police Department’s Robbery Unit is now looking for one of the men involved and is asking residents to share any doorbell or hallway camera footage that could help identify the suspects. No names have been released.

The attempted robbery happened at the Maverick, listed at 72 Milton Ave SE. The property is a midrise apartment community that opened in 2021 with roughly 320 units, according to a Georgia Department of Community Affairs market study. The complex is marketed as Maverick Luxury Apartments in the Peoplestown area, placing the incident in a busy slice of the neighborhood.
