What is usually a low-key day at one of Nashville’s most recognizable neighborhood parks ended in an arrest, after police say a 66-year-old man exposed himself at Fannie Mae Dees Park while children were playing nearby. Officers took the man into custody on a public indecency charge, and court records show he bonded out the following day.
Police account of the arrest
According to WSMV, Metro Nashville police responded on Sunday and saw Ronald Fisher, 66, “exposed from the parking lot next to the playground where children were playing.” The station reports that, per the arrest affidavit, officers told Fisher to stay under a blanket and put on pants. Instead, he allegedly removed the covering and continued to expose himself before officers detained him.
Where it happened
Fannie Mae Dees Park, known locally as Dragon Park for its mosaic serpent sculpture, sits on Blakemore Avenue near the Harris-Hillman special-education campus. The small neighborhood park is described as a common stop for families and students in the Hillsboro area, according to Metro Nashville Parks and Recreation.
Charges and next steps
WSMV reports that Fisher told officers he had an accident in his pants and later said he was experiencing thoughts of suicide, according to the arrest affidavit. Records from the Metro Nashville and Davidson County Criminal Court Clerk website show he was charged with public indecency, bonded out the next day, and is scheduled to appear in court in August.
