
What started as a routine late afternoon in northeast Las Vegas turned into a crime scene on Tuesday, after a person was found dead near East Craig Road and Las Vegas Boulevard and police quickly shut down the area so detectives could work the case.
Scene and timeline
At 4:18 p.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 5300 block of East Craig Road, and homicide detectives soon followed, according to News 3 Las Vegas (KSNV). The station reported that no additional information was immediately available, with police telling reporters that more details would be released in the coming hours.
Detectives worked into the evening, processing evidence and keeping the area sealed off while they documented the scene and preserved the perimeter.
Nearby case earlier this month
The killing comes on the heels of another homicide reported earlier this month along the same Craig Road corridor. On June 19, officers investigated a nighttime homicide in the 4900 block of East Craig that briefly locked down the surrounding block, per nighttime killing near Craig and Las Vegas Boulevard.
Authorities have not publicly connected the two cases, and investigators have yet to release suspect descriptions or the victims’ identities in either investigation.
