Travelers hustling through Logan’s Terminal C now have a very Boston way to start (or end) a trip: a hot breakfast sandwich from Mike & Patty’s. The cult-favorite Bay Village breakfast shop has quietly planted a new concession in the terminal, serving its full lineup, including its star player, the signature “The Fancy” sandwich. The debut came with a modest ribbon-cutting this week, attended by airport and concessions officials.

As reported by Boston.com, MarketPlace Logan, which manages Logan’s concessions program, announced the Terminal C outpost. In a video from the opening, Massachusetts Port Authority CEO Rich Davey offered a pretty bold endorsement: “If you’re looking for a breakfast sandwich, these guys have the best one in the city.”

From a Walk-Up Window to an Airport Stand

Mike & Patty’s started life in 2008 as a tiny 175-square-foot walk-up in Bay Village, then slowly grew into a small local chain with locations in Jamaica Plain, Newton, Lexington, Somerville and downtown food halls. As reported by Patch, owners Ania Zaroda and Michael Gurevich took over the original shop in 2012 and have been steadily expanding the brand ever since.

Menu and Hours

The new Logan counter is not a watered-down version of the original. It serves the full Mike & Patty’s menu, including The Fancy, built with Vital Farms pasture-raised fried eggs, bacon, cheddar, smashed avocado and house mayo. There are also BLTs, turkey sandwiches and vegan options for travelers who want something other than the usual grab-and-go muffin.

Boston.com reports that the Terminal C stand will open daily at 5:30 a.m. and serve until 30 minutes before the day’s final flight. Over on the national stage, Food Network has called the shop’s sandwiches “genius menu creations between bread,” which is a pretty decent pitch to jet-lagged travelers looking for a cure.

A Local Lineup at Logan

MarketPlace Development, the concessions manager for Logan, describes its Boston program as centered on local and distinctive brands, working with the Massachusetts Port Authority to roll out that mix across terminals. The company runs more than 70 food and beverage locations across the airport’s four terminals, so Mike & Patty’s is joining a pretty crowded roster.

Patch also notes that Mike’s Pastry is slated to open in Terminal C later this year, which means travelers could soon be pairing a hefty breakfast sandwich with a cannoli on their way to the gate. For now, the new Mike & Patty’s outpost offers a homegrown breakfast before early flights and a slightly less generic preflight meal. Expect the morning line to grow as word spreads, and a familiar Boston sandwich to make red-eye departures just a little more bearable.
