
A stretch of Bloomington Avenue in Minneapolis’ Phillips neighborhood turned into a crime scene early Sunday after police responded to a reported shooting and later confirmed a man had died at the hospital. Officers found the victim on the 2400 block of Bloomington Avenue with a life-threatening gunshot wound, then rushed him to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Investigators say they are still working to determine what led up to the gunfire.

Responding officers found the man critically wounded on the 2400 block of Bloomington Avenue with a firearm lying next to him, according to KARE 11. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), where he died from his injuries, Minneapolis police said. Homicide detectives are handling the case, and so far police have not announced any arrests.
Investigation ongoing
Detectives are canvassing the surrounding blocks, talking with residents, and reviewing any available surveillance video as they try to piece together what happened before the shooting. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name and are asking anyone with information to contact Minneapolis police.
