A man died after a crash in St. Louis’ Downtown West neighborhood on Saturday, according to police. The collision shut down lanes near South 18th Street and Gratiot Avenue, close to the Ameren corporate offices, while crews worked the scene and directed traffic around the area.

According to FOX 2, the victim was an adult man whose identity has not yet been released, and no other injuries were reported. Police said the vehicle may have struck a fence near the Ameren building while officers responded, and investigators remained at the scene to look into what led up to the crash.
"Crews may cause traffic backups as they work to clear the scene," FOX 2 reported. Tow trucks and investigators were visible Saturday as officers documented the area and reopened lanes when they could.
