Several people bolted from the wreck, four are now in custody, and a teenage passenger was shot but is expected to survive. Police locked down the area as K-9 units and a drone swept the neighborhood.
What police say about the chase and crash
Officers were dispatched around 1:25 a.m. for reports of shots fired. On the way, they spotted an SUV driving without headlights, according to Cleveland 19. When they tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver took off northbound on Washington Avenue.
The SUV slammed into a tree, then continued into a residence in the 600 block of Washington Avenue. Multiple occupants ran from the crash site, prompting officers to set up a perimeter and call in K-9 units and a drone to track them down. Detectives later recovered firearms at the scene.
Investigators say the shooting itself happened just moments earlier in the 300 block of Washington Avenue, with at least one nearby home struck by gunfire. No residents were injured.
A 15-year-old boy who had been with the group was found with a gunshot wound and taken for treatment. Police say he is expected to recover. The driver was identified as 21-year-old Damarion Rucker, and 18-year-old passenger Rayon Davidson was also arrested, according to Cleveland 19.
Detectives obtained warrants for 18-year-old Marcel Martin on multiple felony charges. Police say he was later located and arrested by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, also reported by Cleveland 19.

Monday's crash and arrests landed just days after another late-night shooting on Elyria's west side. On June 14, police flooded Foster Avenue as detectives searched for a gunman. Officers swarmed the Foster Avenue area while they worked the case.

The 15-year-old victim was transported for medical care and is expected to recover, according to police.
