Boston police are investigating after a person was stabbed near Boston Common on Wednesday evening, prompting a sizable response in the downtown core. Officers were dispatched just after 7:20 p.m. and found the victim near Park Street station. The person was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening, and the scene was cleared later in the night while detectives kept working the case.
According to WHDH, officers converged on the corner of Tremont and Winter streets, close to the busy Park Street transit hub, after the initial report came in. Boston police told reporters that early evidence suggests the stabbing happened during an altercation. Officials did not immediately release the victim’s name or any information about a possible weapon.
“The person who was stabbed suffered non-life-threatening injuries,” WHDH reported, citing Boston police. Investigators were seen canvassing the area, reviewing surveillance video, and speaking with people who were nearby at the time. As of Wednesday night, police had not announced any arrests and were still looking for additional witnesses.
