A tense multiagency scene at the Motel 6 off I‑5 in Fife ended with three arrests, two seized handguns and one barricaded suspect taken into custody after more than two hours of negotiations. Police say an armed dispute that began in the motel parking lot escalated into an assault involving a firearm before one man holed up in a room and refused to come out.

What Happened at the Motel

According to the Fife Police Department and reporting by FOX 13 Seattle, officers were called around 1:38 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a disturbance with multiple people and a gun in the Motel 6 parking lot near 20th Street East and 54th Avenue East. Officers arrived in about four minutes, detained several people and learned that guests from one room had gotten into a confrontation with another group before an assault involving a firearm took place.

One armed suspect then barricaded himself inside a motel room and ignored officers’ orders to surrender. The Metro Cities SWAT team was called in, and negotiators spent more than two hours talking with the man before he was taken into custody without further incident at about 4 p.m.

Juvenile Custody and Local Intake

Pierce County’s juvenile intake and detention center, Remann Hall, is the main facility for youth who are taken into custody. The court’s Remann Hall location at 5501 6th Avenue in Tacoma handles intake, temporary detention and initial court appearances. Per Pierce County Juvenile Court, the site serves as the central processing point while juvenile cases move through intake and arraignment.

Agencies on Scene and Evidence Recovered

Detectives later executed a search warrant on the motel room and recovered a loaded Glock 9mm handgun and a loaded Glock .40‑caliber handgun. Investigators said evidence indicates that one of those weapons was used during the parking‑lot assault. The Milton Police Department and Puyallup Tribal Police assisted at the scene, and officers closed off the roadway and blocked access to the motel parking lot during the investigation, according to FOX 13 Seattle.
