Nashville rolled out of bed to low clouds, 66°F at the airport, and a light northwest breeze this morning, but the gray start will not last. Sunshine is expected to break through by afternoon, sending highs up near 82°F. It is a comfortable, mostly dry setup before humidity and storm chances sneak back later in the week.
Foggy Mornings, Sunny Afternoons
Skies turn mostly clear tonight, with lows dipping to around 61°F. After about 3 a.m., patchy fog is expected to form, and a few spots could see dense fog early Wednesday. The midweek commute may start in a haze, but by 7 a.m. or so, fog should begin to lift, and skies will trend mostly sunny, with Wednesday’s high near 86°F. A drier, pleasant stretch holds through midweek before rain returns, according to NWS Nashville.
Storm Chances Return Thursday
Things get more unsettled on Thursday, with showers and thunderstorms possible after about 1 p.m. and some stronger cells in the mix into the weekend. Gusts up to 20 mph could ride in with heavier downpours and briefly slow the evening drive. For background on timing and impacts, see our earlier coverage of the expected stormy ride home.
Heat Builds Into Next Week
By late weekend and into next week, the thermostat cranks up. Highs are forecast to reach the low 90s Saturday and Sunday, with a sweltering near-97°F on tap for Monday. That kind of heat will push heat index values into the 100s in some neighborhoods, raising risks for outdoor workers and vulnerable residents. Hydration and breaks in the shade move from “good idea” to “non-negotiable,” according to NWS Nashville. Metro Nashville’s Office of Emergency Management lists detailed heat safety tips and local resources here.
If you are planning to be outside this weekend, aim the heavy lifting for the morning or evening, keep water close at hand, and check in on neighbors who might struggle with the heat. Keep an eye on local forecasts and alerts so an afternoon downpour or sudden spike in temperature does not catch you off guard.
