The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was called to Pigeon Forge on Wednesday after shots were fired while Sevier County deputies were serving a felony warrant at a motel on the Parkway, according to city officials. Pigeon Forge police were assisting the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office when contact with a suspect led to gunfire. Investigators have not released the suspect’s name or confirmed whether anyone was injured while they continued processing the scene.
According to WATE 6 On Your Side, deputies went to the Days Inn on the Parkway to assist Sevier County Sheriff’s Office officers serving a felony warrant and made contact with a suspect. Shots were fired during that encounter, and the TBI confirmed it was investigating the scene at the request of Fourth Judicial District Attorney General James Dunn. The station reported it had a crew at the site and that investigators planned to release additional details once agents completed their preliminary work.
TBI's Role And Next Steps
As outlined by TBINewsroom, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation serves as an independent fact finder in officer-involved shootings. Agents gather interviews and physical evidence, then turn those findings over to the district attorney, who decides whether any charges are appropriate. While an investigation is active, the agency typically withholds the identities of officers involved and releases updates only when it determines they are appropriate.
Parkway Scene And Local Impact
The Parkway is Pigeon Forge's main tourist strip, lined with hotels, restaurants and family attractions that keep the area busy most days. Large police responses in this corridor can quickly affect traffic flow and nearby businesses. The area's official tourism site, Visit My Smokies, highlights the Parkway as the central hub for visitor activity in town.
Officials said they plan to provide updates after TBI agents finish their initial work at the scene and compile findings for the district attorney’s review. For now, county and city authorities have not released any additional information.
