Police found an injured man at the scene, and he was alert and breathing as medical personnel treated him on the roadway. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, a portion of Claire Drive SE near Parsons Street SE was blocked off while officers worked the case. The outlet reports that responders found the injured man "alert, conscious and breathing" before he was handed over to medical crews.
Per the Atlanta Police Department, authorities have not released the man's identity, the severity of his injuries, a description of any suspect, or any information about what triggered the gunfire. Officers say the investigation remains active as detectives collect evidence and interview witnesses.

The shooting comes in a year when Lakewood Heights has already dealt with other gun violence. A late-April incident left one person dead, underscoring ongoing safety concerns in the southeast Atlanta neighborhood.
