A Friday morning commute in Boynton Beach turned tragic when a 28-year-old West Palm Beach man was killed after his motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of Boynton Beach Boulevard and El Clair Ranch Road. The crash shut down lanes, brought a heavy emergency response and left regulars on the busy corridor rattled. The rider was rushed to Delray Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Traffic homicide investigators told WPTV the collision happened at about 7:08 a.m., when a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja traveling eastbound struck the passenger side of a 2016 Kia Forte that was attempting a left turn. Officials identified the rider as 28-year-old Albert Garcia of West Palm Beach and said he was traveling at a high rate of speed, applied the motorcycle's brakes but did not have time to avoid the Kia. Garcia was ejected from the bike, landed a short distance from the impact point and was then transported to Delray Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
A Corridor Known For Dangerous Left Turns
Boynton Beach Boulevard is part of a heavily traveled state corridor where left-turn conflicts and high traffic volumes have produced repeated crash clusters in recent years. A planning and engineering report by FDOT reviewed crash data and the University of Florida's Signal Four analytics to assess safety along SR-804, highlighting how left turns at multi-lane intersections are often the scene of serious collisions.
Detectives Continue Crash Probe
Investigators told WPTV the driver of the Kia, a 39-year-old Boynton Beach man, was wearing a seatbelt and was not seriously injured. They said Garcia was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. No charges have been announced, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing its investigation.
Anyone with information or dash-cam footage is urged to contact the sheriff's office. The contact page for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office lists its main number as (561) 688-3000.
