Julia Louis-Dreyfus is finally stepping onto a Broadway stage, headlining a fall revival of Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities at the Hudson Theatre. The limited engagement brings a seriously stacked ensemble into one of Broadway's more intimate houses, with previews beginning Sept. 29, 2026, and the production running through Jan. 17, 2027.
Star-studded cast and creative team
Louis-Dreyfus will play Polly, joined by Ed Harris as Lyman, Allison Janney as Silda, Lily Rabe as Brooke and Joe Keery as Trip. Both Louis-Dreyfus and Keery are billed as making their Broadway debuts, which should give the Hudson plenty of first-night energy. The revival is directed by Tony winner John Benjamin Hickey, with Scott Pask on scenic design, Tom Broecker on costumes, Natasha Katz on lighting and Mikaal Sulaiman on sound, as reported by Broadway.com.
Dates, tickets and where to buy
The production's official site lists previews starting Sept. 29, an Oct. 18 opening night and a final performance on Jan. 17, 2027, along with an American Express presale for cardmembers, according to OtherDesertCitiesBroadway.com. Tickets are being sold through ATG and standard box-office outlets. For those already bracing for sticker shock, Time Out currently shows a range of $99 to $498 for performances, a spread that has sparked early chatter among theatergoers online; see Time Out for the listing details.
Why this revival matters
Jon Robin Baitz’s Other Desert Cities was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, a signal that this is not just another celebrity vehicle but a tightly wound family drama with serious credentials. Pulitzer.org lists the play among the 2012 finalists, and the Internet Broadway Database breaks down the production history and creative team for this revival in detail (IBDB). With a Pulitzer-recognized script and a cast packed with screen favorites, the Hudson staging is poised to be one of the most closely watched offerings of the New York theater season.
