
A quiet stretch of Nursery Lane in West Fort Worth turned into a crime scene yesterday when a man was shot and killed near an apartment complex in the 100 block of the street. Responding officers found him lying in the roadway with at least one gunshot wound, and despite lifesaving efforts from first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses told police they heard gunfire and saw someone running from the area. Fort Worth police say a person of interest has been detained and remains in custody.
Scene and police response
Officers were called to the shooting just before 10 p.m. and arrived to find the man down in the roadway near the apartment complex on Nursery Lane. They attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim died at the scene. Several witnesses reported hearing shots and then seeing a suspect take off from the area. Police say they were able to detain a person of interest, who is still in custody as detectives sort through what happened.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s identity and determine the official cause of death, according to FOX 4.
