A late-night bar fight on San Antonio's Northeast Side spilled into the street and onto a fast-food parking lot early Thursday, leaving a couple in the hospital after bullets tore into their car.
Police said the two were parked at a Chick-fil-A on Austin Highway near Rainbow Drive when gunfire erupted shortly after a disturbance in the Nowhere Bar parking lot across the street. As they tried to drive away, their vehicle was hit multiple times. The man was shot in the arm and the woman suffered a grazing wound to her foot. Both are expected to recover.
According to FOX San Antonio, the shooting happened around midnight and first responders rushed to the scene, where photos showed the riddled vehicle and officers combing the area for evidence.
Northeast Side Shooting Trends
The latest gunfire comes amid a run of recent shootings on the Northeast Side. On June 16, a June 16 shooting that left a man in critical condition and several juveniles detained kept attention on neighborhood safety and policing as detectives worked multiple active cases in the area.
So far, no arrests have been made in the Chick-fil-A shooting, and San Antonio police had not released additional details as of Thursday morning. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects and the investigation remains active, according to FOX San Antonio.
Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has video that might help detectives is urged to contact the San Antonio Police Department.
