A late-night collision at the intersection of Wisteria and Shawnee avenues in Las Vegas left a mini-bike rider in critical condition on Wednesday, after a pickup truck struck the small bike, according to authorities. Emergency crews transported the rider to University Medical Center, where he was being treated for life-threatening injuries.
According to News 3 LV, the crash happened around 10:33 p.m. when a Dodge Ram 1500 making a left turn from northbound Wisteria struck a man who investigators believe was riding a non-street-legal, gas-powered mini-bike southbound on Wisteria. Medical personnel took the rider to UMC, and Metro said the pickup driver stayed at the scene and "did not show any signs of impairment."
Investigation under way
A news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department states that collision investigators responded to the scene and that the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not released the rider's identity or offered further details while they work to determine exactly what happened.
A recurring danger on city streets
Mini-bike and other off-road vehicle crashes have repeatedly led to serious injuries across the valley, including a similar life-threatening mini-bike collision in northeast Las Vegas in September 2025. Local police regularly warn that many of these small, gas-powered bikes are not street-legal and can be especially hazardous when ridden on busy public roads.
