
A pre-dawn knock at an apartment door in north central Phoenix ended in gunfire early Thursday, leaving a man in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. Officers were called to the complex around 3:20 a.m., and the victim was rushed to a hospital with serious wounds. He was described as in critical but stable condition while detectives took over the case and the shooter remained on the run.

Phoenix police told the outlet the man had opened his front door after someone knocked, and an unknown person shot him.
