Gunfire tore through Philadelphia’s Strawberry Mansion neighborhood Wednesday night, leaving a 20-year-old man shot in the leg and a block on edge as police combed the scene for clues.
Officers rushed to the 3000 block of Susquehanna Avenue around 9:45 p.m., where they found the victim conscious with a gunshot wound to his leg, according to NBC10 Philadelphia. He was taken to a nearby hospital and listed in stable condition.
Chief Inspector Scott Small told the station that investigators recovered more than 30 spent shell casings at the scene. Two masked men, one on a scooter and the other on an electric bicycle, allegedly opened fire, while another group returned shots and remained at the location. The group that stayed, which included the wounded man, later handed over weapons to police as detectives pulled video from local security cameras and canvassed for more footage.

Wednesday night’s shooting follows other recent violence in Strawberry Mansion. On May 22, an exchange of gunfire in the neighborhood left a 49-year-old man dead, as reported by CBS Philadelphia. That earlier clash was captured on city surveillance cameras and remains under investigation.
