Three people were taken into custody Thursday evening after Boston police say they bolted from an attempted break-in in the Financial District. The suspects, described as wearing black ski masks, ran from officers near the intersection of Water and Washington streets and headed toward Court Square after a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress. Officers converged on the area and arrested all three. Police reported no injuries and did not immediately release any details on the suspects’ identities or possible charges.
According to The Boston Globe, the call came in at 7:33 p.m. from across from 7 Water Street and drew nearly a dozen marked squad cars racing to the scene. The Globe reported that the three males, all wearing black ski masks, fled the area and were later detained near Court Square. Authorities did not immediately say whether charges had been filed.
Quick Police Response in the Financial District
“A call reporting a breaking and entering in progress across from 7 Water St. came in at 7:33 p.m.,” a police spokesperson told The Boston Globe. The paper added that “no other information was immediately available.” Officials did not offer further comment Thursday night.
The downtown A-1 unit has been busy this spring responding to commercial break-ins and follow-up arrests, a pattern the Boston Police Department has documented in recent notices about Charles Street burglaries and other downtown cases. The Boston Police Department has said detectives and patrol officers frequently coordinate on alarm responses and surveillance in the Financial District. Investigators at the scene continued to gather information Thursday night, and the case remained under review.
