
On what started as a quiet Sunday night in east Mesa, gunfire near Lindsay and Brown roads left four people shot and two of them dead, police said. Neighbors told reporters they heard gunfire around 8 p.m., and officers arrived to find four people with gunshot wounds. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, and police have not yet released their names or said what might have sparked the violence, as reported by ABC15 Arizona.
Mesa police said no officers fired their weapons during the incident and that investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the wider community. Detectives are leading the case and have not identified any suspects so far, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.
Residents were urged to steer clear of the area while first responders worked the scene and collected evidence. The neighborhood remained blocked off as officers and crime scene technicians moved methodically through the area, per Arizona's Family.
