
Gunfire tore through a Moline Acres block just after midnight Saturday, leaving one man dead and another wounded in the latest shooting to rock north St. Louis County.
Officers were called to the 9700 block of Lanier Drive at about 12:37 a.m. and found two men with gunshot injuries. One man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that police described as not life threatening.
According to First Alert 4, Moline Acres Police Department officers initially responded, and St. Louis County detectives have since taken over the case. Investigators have not released the victims’ names or any suspect information as the investigation remains active.

What the block's history shows
The 9700 block of Lanier Drive has seen deadly violence before. RiverBender reported a 2022 fatal shooting on the same block that investigators said grew out of a domestic altercation, a grim reminder of ongoing safety concerns in parts of north St. Louis County.
Investigation ongoing
St. Louis County detectives are still processing evidence and tracking down leads, and no arrests had been announced as of Saturday.
