A Nashville man is facing a slate of serious charges after a Thursday morning shooting at Napier Homes left a 29-year-old resident with a leg wound, according to Metro Nashville Police. Officers were called to the 100 block of Charles E. Davis Boulevard just before 10:30 a.m., where they found the injured man in a breezeway.

Per WSMV, the victim was identified as 29-year-old Othello Lane. Lane told investigators he had been hanging out in the breezeway when he was confronted by 45-year-old James C. Jenkins, known to some as "Cheese," and then shot in the leg. Lane later picked Jenkins out of a photo lineup. Police tracked Jenkins to an apartment on Lafayette Street, where he followed officers’ commands and surrendered without incident.

Napier Homes context

J.C. Napier Homes is one of Nashville’s long-standing public housing developments, built in the mid-20th century and managed by the city’s housing agency. The complex and its surrounding Edgehill neighborhood have been the focus of ongoing redevelopment and planning conversations in recent years, as documented by local planning groups and archives. Charges and investigation

Police arrested Jenkins and charged him with attempted criminal homicide, unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon, felony reckless endangerment, and gun possession in the commission of a dangerous felony. Those specific charges and the arrest details were reported by WSMV. MNPD investigators handled the identification and arrest, and the department has not released further information about a possible motive or an upcoming court date.

The investigation remains active. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Metro Nashville Police.
