A 27-year-old Nashville man who survived a Christmas-night shooting in Antioch is now under arrest in connection with that same deadly gunfire, according to Metro police.
Detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department say Corian Bowling was taken into custody Monday after he was discharged from Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he had been treated for injuries stemming from the Dec. 25, 2023, shooting on Pepperwood Drive.
Shooting on Pepperwood Drive
The Christmas-night shooting unfolded outside a home at 4028 Pepperwood Drive and left 25-year-old Anthony Gatewood Jr. dead. Bowling was also found wounded at the scene and taken to Vanderbilt for treatment, according to a Metro Nashville Police Department release and local television coverage. In a Dec. 26, 2023, statement, investigators said they were asking the public for help as they worked the case, MNPD and WSMV reported.
Arrest and Evidence
After Bowling's release from the hospital, TITANS Unit detectives moved in and arrested him. Investigators say they recovered a reportedly stolen handgun and narcotics from a Dodge Challenger that Bowling had been driving. They also reported finding cocaine, marijuana, oxycodone pills, and thousands of dollars in cash inside a rental car linked to him, according to local coverage of the department's account. WKRN
Outstanding Warrants and Past Cases
In its December 2023 release, MNPD said Bowling would face arrest upon discharge from the hospital on a stack of outstanding warrants that included auto theft, burglary, making harassing threats, theft, probation violation, and failure to appear. The department also noted he had forfeited a $35,000 bond after missing a court date in a case involving a stolen pickup. MNPD
According to TITANS detectives, Bowling was wanted on 21 outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest, and investigators tied him to an October 2025 crime spree that carried roughly 15 charges. Detectives said they tracked him by following leads connected to those open cases. WKRN
What Comes Next
Authorities have not publicly clarified whether prosecutors have filed any new homicide-related charges in the Antioch killing, and investigators say the case remains very much active, with tips still playing a key role. WSMV reported that MNPD had initially asked anyone with information on the shooting to contact Metro Nashville Crime Stoppers. WSMV
Bowling's arrest is the latest in what police describe as a widening string of TITANS unit operations that have pulled guns, drugs, and stolen vehicles off Nashville streets in recent months, as detectives zero in on suspects tied to outstanding warrants and alleged crime sprees.
