It was anything but a quiet early morning at the Carvana dealership on Dedham Street, where Norfolk police say three people slipped into the secured rear vehicle storage lot at around 2 a.m. on June 2. Officers arriving on scene found a Dodge Challenger that had been entered and showed signs of tampering, and later discovered a 2020 BMW X3 parked near the lot entrance. The suspects took off through a wooded area toward Wrentham and allegedly stole a company truck there, which was later recovered in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, as the still-active investigation stretched across multiple communities.
According to a statement from the department, the suspects "appeared to be using tools" while trying to break into the Challenger. Inside the BMW, officers reported finding a Rhode Island license plate that had previously been reported stolen from Rumford. Massachusetts State Police assisted at the scene, according to a post by the Norfolk Police Department.
Suspects Flee To Wrentham; Truck Recovered In Pawtucket
Police say the trio ran off into a wooded area after officers arrived, eventually reaching a business in Wrentham where they allegedly made off with a company truck. Pawtucket police later located that vehicle in Rhode Island. Norfolk Police Chief James Barrett said, "This appears to have been a coordinated effort involving multiple stolen vehicles and property crimes across several jurisdictions," describing a case that has already crossed town and state lines. Investigators called the probe active and ongoing, according to the same post from the Norfolk Police Department.
