Metro Nashville homicide detectives have zeroed in on a second suspect in the double murder near Percy Priest Lake and are calling on the public to help track him down. Investigators say 23-year-old Jose Miguel Guardado-Aguilar is named in warrants on two counts of criminal homicide, is considered armed and dangerous, and may have ties to the MS‑13 gang.
What police are looking for
According to NewsChannel 5, Metro Nashville police say Guardado-Aguilar is wanted on two counts of criminal homicide and has known connections to Fort Smith, Arkansas, as well as the Alabama cities of Birmingham, Hoover, and Alabaster.
Victims and where they were found
The victims were identified as 19-year-old Amir Landan Wilkerson and 18-year-old Jaime Valdez-Garcia, both from Alabaster, Alabama. Their bodies were discovered on April 28, 2025, in a wooded area between the Lincoya Bay apartments and Percy Priest Lake, according to a Metro Nashville Police Department press release. Police said a cash reward has been offered, and homicide detectives are still chasing active leads, including tips and any video that might move the case forward.
Previous arrest and investigation
The new warrant follows last year’s arrest of Josue Daniel Hernandez-Moxje, who was taken into custody in Kenner, Louisiana, and returned to Nashville last June to face two homicide charges. He remains in the Metro Jail. Local reporting has shown that detectives followed leads across state lines and coordinated with federal partners to identify the first suspect.
Legal implications
Criminal homicide charges are among the toughest a prosecutor can file in Tennessee and, if proven, come with severe penalties. Officials say the investigation is still very much active and that more charges could be filed, according to reporting by WSMV. Authorities also stressed that anyone named in warrants is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
How to help
As reported by WGNS Radio, police have warned the public not to approach Guardado-Aguilar if he is seen. Instead, anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463 or contact local law enforcement. Detectives are also asking residents to share any dash-cam or cellphone video from the area around April 27–28, 2025, so investigators can review it for potential evidence.
