It has been nearly 10 months since 24-year-old Stanley Andre Howe Jr. was shot and killed on the 6900 block of Wiltsie Street on Aug. 10, 2025, and his mother says she is still no closer to knowing who is responsible. This week, Constance Moyer joined family and friends for a balloon release to remember her son and to push homicide detectives for updates. The family says the case remains open and no arrests have been announced.
What police say about the shooting
Zone 5 officers were called to the 6900 block of Wiltsie Street around 10:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire and found an adult male with two gunshot wounds lying in the street. Officers applied first aid, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by WPXI.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner later identified the victim as 24-year-old Stanley Andre Howe Jr., and local coverage notes that investigators have not announced any arrests in the case, per CBS Pittsburgh.
Mother presses detectives for answers
Moyer told reporters she repeatedly left messages for homicide detectives and even waited for a return call from the mayor before she was finally able to meet with investigators. "Somebody needs to tell me who killed my baby," she said. She also told the station that Howe had been at a pool party at a nearby Airbnb the night he was killed and that she believes more than one person was involved. Family and friends held a balloon release in his honor while they waited for more information, as reported by WTAE.
Remembering Howe
Obituary and funeral notices list Aug. 10, 2025, as the date of death and say Howe is survived by a daughter and multiple family members. The family’s funeral-home listing and the syndicated obituary are posted on Legacy. Friends and relatives described him as outgoing and determined, and say they are working to preserve his memory for his newborn child.
How to help investigators
Pittsburgh police ask anyone with information to contact the Bureau of Police Detective Desk or the Violent Crime Unit, and the City of Pittsburgh directory lists detective contact numbers and reporting options. City of Pittsburgh officials and local reporting say detectives continue to investigate and that no arrests have been announced so far, according to coverage of the case.
