Reunion Kitchen & Bar, the cozy East Cobb hangout tucked into Market Plaza, is getting ready to turn out the lights on Johnson Ferry Road for the summer while the team hunts for a fresh start in Sandy Springs.
The plan, according to owners, is a temporary pause. They are aiming to land a new space in Sandy Springs and reopen there this fall, but for now regulars have just one more week to catch live music, cocktails and dinner service before the dining room goes dark.
What Now Atlanta reports that the restaurant told followers on Instagram it would close for the summer while staff look for a new home, and that the Market Plaza spot at 1255 Johnson Ferry Rd, Suite 16 will shut down after a little more than two years in business. Co-owner Ilene Kapper Oxman said the decision was driven by rent hikes and that the team has its sights set squarely on Sandy Springs for a fall reboot. "I love East Cobb," Oxman said. "But I just feel that Sandy Springs will be a better place for us."
As first noted on the restaurant’s Facebook page, East Cobb News reports that management blamed "the continued rise in rent and operating costs" for the move and described the shutdown as "not goodbye - just a pause" while the crew prepares to reopen elsewhere. The outlet also points out that the owners originally considered calling the concept 1255 Social before settling on the name Reunion in the former Red Sky Tapas space.
Where Reunion started
Reunion opened in 2024 at Market Plaza, taking over the Red Sky Tapas & Bar location that closed in 2022, and quickly settled in as a neighborhood go-to for elevated comfort food and live music.
East Cobber highlighted the restaurant’s inviting bar and chef-driven menu when it first debuted, noting that the vibe leaned more warm community hub than stuffy special-occasion spot.
What is next for customers
Oxman, who also runs Harry’s Pizza & Subs along Powers Ferry Road, told What Now Atlanta that the team is actively negotiating leases in Sandy Springs and will share reopening details as soon as a deal is signed.
In the meantime, fans looking for reservations, private event information or updates on the move are being directed to the restaurant’s website and social channels. The Reunion site still lists the Market Plaza address along with a phone number for questions.
