The Monday morning commute in Billerica turned tragic when a 25-year-old man from Bedford was killed after his motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of Rangeway Road and Nashua Road. First responders performed CPR at the scene before the rider was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
What police say
Billerica police said officers were dispatched to the intersection at about 6:40 a.m. and arrived to find the motorcycle operator unresponsive. Medics transported him to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to Boston 25 News. The driver of the car was also taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation by local authorities.
Investigators at the scene
The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section and the state crime scene unit responded to examine the wreck, according to the Lowell Sun. The outlet reported that the Middlesex District Attorney’s office has joined Billerica police in the probe. Officials have not released the rider’s name and no charges have been announced as investigators continue their work.
Motorcycle safety in Massachusetts
The crash comes amid a broader rise in motorcycle fatalities statewide. MassDOT data shows 71 motorcycle operator deaths in 2024, up from 58 in 2023, underscoring how vulnerable riders are on Massachusetts roads, according to MassDOT.
