A man and a woman were killed Monday in a daytime shooting at a Roanoke Rapids intersection, a burst of violence that ended with a car stopped in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood and its driver detained, according to police.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired at Vance Street and 11th Street West. An RRPD officer who was already in the area spotted a vehicle leaving the scene, followed it into Lincoln Heights and pulled the driver over, where the detention took place. As investigators secured the scene, authorities stressed there was no ongoing threat to the public.
