Route 6 just scored a new slice stop. Wicked Pizza Co. quietly opened this week on Grand Army of the Republic Highway in Swansea, serving New York-style pies by the slice and whole pies from a compact counter-service dining room. The family-run spot held a soft opening on June 18 and is turning out 18-inch large pies alongside wings, pasta, garlic knots and rotating desserts. Owners say sauces are made from scratch, and the shop is starting with pickup and delivery as it settles in.
Per The Herald News, Wicked Pizza Co. is operating out of 2388 Grand Army of the Republic Highway, the former Bucko's Pizzeria storefront, with a small dining room that seats about 24 people and uses counter service. The outlet reports current hours are noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, noon to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, and notes that the owners plan to add beer on tap in the future. Pickup and delivery are available as operations ramp up.

The pizzeria is owned and operated by Kevin, Autumn and Brian Avellar along with Darlene Reiger. The family says they want the shop to be responsive to local tastes and will tweak hours and menu items as business builds. For now, the rollout is geared toward steady daytime and evening service rather than late-night traffic, with beer on tap still in the plans as a likely future addition.
