Banh Mi House has quietly slipped into the Minneapolis Mill District, serving fast-casual Vietnamese comfort food at 1024 Washington Ave S. The counter-service spot focuses on banh mi sandwiches, with rice bowls, noodle bowls, and Vietnamese-style coffee rounding out the lineup. Many components are made in house, and the team leans on family recipes for the shop's baguettes and spreads. After a soft opening in late May, the crew is lining up an official grand-opening celebration this Thursday.
According to Banh Mi House, the restaurant keeps hours of Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and offers both online ordering and catering. The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reports the owners will host a public grand opening on June 11.
Mill City Times reported that Banh Mi House quietly began serving customers on May 22 and says the operation is led by co-owners Mai Huynh and her daughter Annie Huynh, with chef Bora Tuy overseeing recipes. The neighborhood piece describes a muraled counter room and notes the baguettes are baked fresh by a family member for the sandwiches.
Menu And Service
The menu leans on classic banh mi fillings such as cold-cut, grilled beef and lemongrass pork, plus rice and noodle bowls and specialty drinks like pandan coconut and Vietnamese-style coffee. Toast lists item details and prices, and Banh Mi House says many dressings, spreads and pickles are made in house.
Space And Neighborhood
The new shop moved into the former Fitchn storefront at 1024 Washington Ave S, a Bridgewater Lofts ground-floor space that previously served salads and smoothies. Fitchn lists the address, and The Development Tracker recorded Banh Mi House as the incoming tenant.
Owners tell neighbors they hope the counter model will serve downtown workers, riverfront visitors and Mill District families, and the shop is offering catering for events, per Mill City Times. Local neighborhood coverage has flagged the arrival as a welcome lunchtime option downtown, and the team will mark the opening with the public event this Thursday.
