What deputies say began as an intentional vehicle ram in San Elizario on June 7 ended with a brief chase, a struggle, and a trip to jail for a 41-year-old driver.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says deputies arrested Samuel Dominguez after he allegedly rammed a pickup, tried to get away in his blue Mazda, and then resisted as officers moved in. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, where he remained in custody pending further court action.

How deputies say the chase unfolded

According to KFOX14/CBS4, the Sheriff's Office says deputies were dispatched at about 1:44 p.m. to the intersection of Chicken Ranch Road and Socorro Road after a report that a blue Mazda had intentionally struck a blue GMC pickup.

Deputies later found both vehicles in the 13800 block of Socorro Road. Investigators say the Mazda took off, kicking off a short pursuit through the area before it was brought to a stop in the 12900 block of Alnor Street.

Charges and booking

The Sheriff's Office said Dominguez resisted deputies during the arrest, and a brief struggle followed before he was taken into custody, KFOX14/CBS4 reported.

He faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, along with resisting arrest and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. His total bond was set at $102,000. Dominguez was transported to the El Paso County Detention Facility and remained jailed as the case moved through the system.

A pattern in San Elizario

This latest arrest follows other chase-related incidents reported in the San Elizario area earlier this winter. Hoodline coverage of a December pursuit showed deputies detaining three people after a related stop, and local station KVIA posted video of that earlier arrest.

What happens next

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office provided details of the June 7 case to local media and says the matter will proceed through the county's criminal justice process. Officials have not released additional information as the investigation continues.
