A man was found shot multiple times Sunday morning behind a shopping plaza on the 1000 block of Fayetteville Road in southeast Atlanta, authorities said. Officers roped off the back of the businesses while investigators processed the scene and spoke with people nearby. Police have not released the victim’s identity, and no suspects have been named.
According to WSB-TV, Atlanta police told Channel 2’s Bryan Mims that someone discovered the body behind a small cluster of businesses that includes a seafood cafe and a liquor store. Detectives stayed on scene as they collected evidence and canvassed for witnesses.
Investigation underway
Police have not shared the victim's name or identified any suspects, the outlet reported. WSB-TV noted that APD is urging anyone with information to contact investigators as they work to piece together what happened.
Where this fits in the city
Citywide data show a mixed picture. Atlanta saw declines in homicides last year, even as shootings continue to surface in pockets across different neighborhoods. As reported by Hoodline, citywide homicides plunged last year, and officials credited targeted enforcement and community programs for much of the drop.
