San Antonio police say a chaotic fight at a Southwest Side home off Seashell Place near Military Drive West ended early Monday when a single gunshot hit a man in the arm and landed another man in handcuffs. Two women and two men were at the house when an argument turned physical and quickly spiraled. During the struggle, the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired one round, hitting one of the men; officers said the injury was not believed to be life-threatening. The suspect then ran from the scene but was found and taken into custody a short time later near the home.
According to News 4 San Antonio, the disturbance broke out just after 4 a.m. Monday. Police told the station that a man and two women were already inside the home when another man arrived, and all four ended up in the middle of the fight. The three people at the house tried to defend themselves with a machete, while the arriving man pulled a handgun and fired a single shot.
Machetes and guns have appeared in other local fights
Recent weeks have seen several violent confrontations across San Antonio involving blades. Hoodline covered a catcall machete standoff on the West Side on May 30, and KSAT reported an April attack that left a man hospitalized after he was struck with a machete. Seashell Place itself was the scene of a fatal shooting in January 2021, the Express-News reported, a reminder that the block has seen serious violence before.
