Canutillo Independent School District said Wednesday it has pulled several employees from Deanna Davenport Elementary as part of an ongoing investigation and is working closely with law enforcement and prosecutors. According to the district, four people connected to the situation are no longer employed, an internal investigation is in progress, and counseling, along with other support services, are being offered to families affected.
District outlines actions and support
In a Facebook post, Canutillo Independent School District said it "has fully cooperated and continues to cooperate with law enforcement and prosecutors" and that "employees implicated in the allegations were removed from campus."
The district said it has launched its own internal investigation, notified the appropriate law enforcement agencies and is providing impacted families with access to counseling services and other resources while outside authorities conduct their reviews.
State-level reporting and transparency
According to the Texas Education Agency, the state on June 2 launched an Educator Misconduct Dashboard and Student Protection Resource Center that centralizes misconduct reports, State Board for Educator Certification actions, and the Do Not Hire Registry for public review. The tool gives families a place to track state-level actions while local investigations and any prosecutorial decisions move forward.

Canutillo ISD said it is reviewing its procedures, practices, and safeguards to see what additional steps might further strengthen student protections. The district did not describe the specific allegations in its public statement.

Any potential criminal charges or administrative sanctions will depend on what law enforcement, prosecutors, and the district's internal personnel reviews ultimately find. Canutillo ISD said it will continue cooperating with authorities as those processes continue, and officials did not announce any criminal charges in the Facebook post.
