A 25-year-old El Paso woman was killed early Saturday after the SUV she was driving ran off Shadow Mountain Drive on the city’s West Side and plowed into landscaping and rock walls, police said. The driver, identified as Missy Roberta Aguilar, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers were transported to local hospitals with injuries that have not been specified. Debris from the crash struck two parked vehicles near the business front where the SUV came to rest.
Police Say Speed Was Main Factor
According to a City of El Paso press release, the Special Traffic Investigations unit responded to the 400 block of Shadow Mountain Drive at about 2:22 a.m. and found that a 2012 Ford Escape had been traveling northbound when it failed to negotiate a curve. Investigators said the SUV struck a curb, went over landscaping, and hit a metal trash container and two rock walls. “The main contributing factor in this crash is speed,” the release stated. The case remains under investigation, according to the city.
