Shortly after 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Knoxville police responded to a crash at Woodland Avenue and the northbound ramp to I-275, where officers found the driver suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Emergency crews rushed the driver to a hospital in critical condition. Parts of the area were briefly shut down while investigators worked the scene, and the Knoxville Police Department has said the investigation is ongoing.
According to WVLT, Knoxville police said the wreck happened at Woodland Avenue at I-275 North shortly after 10:30 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the driver with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and had the person taken to the hospital in critical condition. The station reported that additional information had not been released at the time of its report.
