An Abington woman has been arrested after authorities said a two-month-old baby suffered physical abuse serious enough to trigger a two-week investigation. The infant remains hospitalized in Boston, while the mother faces three criminal charges.
According to Boston 25 News, Jillian Timmons, 34, was arrested Thursday afternoon after Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office worked with Abington police. The investigation began after South Shore Hospital contacted authorities over suspected physical abuse involving Timmons’ daughter. Prosecutors say Timmons is charged with two counts of assault and battery on a child causing serious bodily injury and one count of reckless endangerment of a child.
Charges remain allegations as case heads to court
Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 265, Section 13J addresses assault and battery upon a child and distinguishes between bodily injury and substantial bodily injury, according to the Massachusetts General Court. The criminal complaint against Timmons is an allegation, and the charges have not been proven in court.
Arraignment scheduled in Brockton
Timmons was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Brockton District Court, Boston 25 News reported. The Massachusetts Court System lists the court at 215 Main St. in Brockton and identifies Abington among the communities it serves.
