Bagley Road is getting a fresh splash of fruit. The Fruit Stand, a fast-growing Northeast Ohio fruit-bowl shop, is opening a new Berea storefront this Saturday (Aug. 1), taking over the former Mootown Creamery space at 437 W. Bagley Road. To kick things off, the counter will hand out free bowls to the first 50 customers at its grand opening. On the menu: made-to-order smoothie bowls, fresh-cut fruit bowls, pound cake bowls and oatmeal bowls, all assembled in front of guests.
As reported by Cleveland.com, the Berea shop will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature a banana-split themed smoothie-bowl special for August. Alyssa Michalakes, the Fruit Stand's director of marketing, told Cleveland.com that "the company is very dear to my heart" and emphasized that staff customize each bowl while customers watch. According to The Fruit Stand website, founder Jason Carpinelli opened the first shop in Kent in January 2021 and has been steadily expanding across the region ever since. The hours, the August special and the free-bowl promotion all roll out with Saturday's grand opening, and staff say they are planning the usual celebratory vibe for the ribbon-cutting.
